I'm Chee Wen — a certified holistic nutritionist with a background in alternative medicine, and a specialist in enzymes and natural remedies.
I founded Sparrow Holistic Health in 2012, running workshops and health consults rooted in natural, holistic care. From 2014 to 2016, I served as Team Leader for the Singapore International Foundation's Nutrition for Children project, working with communities in Bangalore to tackle child malnutrition at its root. It was there that I also witnessed how quickly untreated skin conditions could turn serious — in some cases costing people their limbs. That stayed with me. The year after, I wrote our experience into a book, 100 Rupees a Day: Eat Healthy, Live Healthy.
That conviction — that good health should never be out of reach — is what sent me looking for a better way to care for skin. It took seven and a half years of research to get there. At a natural skincare formulators' seminar by Formula Botanica UK, I learned what I'd been chasing was considered impossible: trapping live enzymes, alive and active, in skincare. I'd already done it.
In December 2022, at our very first pop-up, Sparrow Live Enzymes Skincare was born. Live enzymes soothe, balance, and strengthen your skin's microbiome far better than deactivated ones — and once I saw that clearly, healthy skin became simple again.
Our E-lixir toner and serum are fermented for 365 days from 40 food-grade herbs, flowers, barks, roots, gums, and vitamins. The rest of the range ferments its own way — nothing rushed, nothing wasted.
You won't find Sparrow in shops or on shopping platforms, and we've never spent a cent on marketing. We grow through word of mouth and our pop-up booths, so we can keep prices fair and put everything else into research and the finest ingredients we can find.

Why "Sparrow"?
I'm a Christian, and the name isn't accidental. It's often how I've felt God speak to me — quietly, and in the most unexpected places, exactly when I needed an answer. Sometimes on the 4th floor of an enclosed shopping centre. Sometimes in the kitchen of a friend's home. Small, unassuming, but always right on time.
That's the spirit I hope Sparrow carries into your skincare shelf, too.
